My son is 22 months. He bites other children at daycare. When he is at home he rarely bites. When it happens, he is always mad first. How do we stop this? Any suggestions?

  1. Biting back will be the worst thing that can be done. I will confuse him and make him think that this behavior is ok.

I would recommend that you actually try to talk to him. You will be surprised how much he will understand. He may only be 2 but he's not stupid. When he has a bad day at daycare you can talk to him about it at home and give him a quick time out for it. He will remember it and eventual understand.

  2. with my twins the one who got bit got to bite back...that ended real fast...

the day care needs to supervise this and have a biter time out chair...

  3. bite him back

  4. It is mostly his age. He is smarter than his words allow him. When he gets upset he can't communicate his problem because he dosen't have a large vocabulary. This is typical for boys at this age. Work with your child care provider to come up with a solution. Maybe the child care is a little a fault becasue if your son is being activly played with and watched he should not be biting.

Don't bite back!! Try baby sign language, it is never to late to give him the words he needs to communicate his feelings. Also, give the child he bit the attention, not him!!!
