  1. First, don't panic...You have to realize that a violin needs humidity or it will crack.

As for the bridge, that costs $1.50....No big deal and it will take 15 seconds to tune.

As for the other crack, you didn't specify so it is hard for me to tell you. email me and I can tell you the approx cost so that no one will try to take advantage of you.

  2. It depends. I would go to a local non- franchise place because they are always alot cheaper.

  3. the bridge can be replaced. as for the crack i would take it to a music store because the violin is a fragile instrument and u dnt wanna further brake it.

  4. You will need to take your violin to a shop that specializes in stringed instruments. Stringed instrument repair people are called luthiers, and you can find one in most major cities. Try Google or check the phone book, or this website might help: http://www.violinist.com/luthiers/

A bridge is easily replaced and is not expensive. You can buy a new one for easily less than $20, but you will also have to pay the luthier to fit it to the violin--the wood needs to be shaved down so it fits just right.

Cracks can also be repaired. The cost of fixing them depends on where the crack is on the violin and how big it is. In some instances, a small crack or split seam can simply be glued with a special wood glue and clamps. This is a fairly  inexpensive repair. Or, the luthier may have to temporarily remove the top of the violin and patch it from the inside, which is a more time consuming and expensive repair. If the violin is severely cracked in a crucial place, repairs can be difficult and therefore more costly.

You should find a good luthier and take the violin in to have them look at it. You can ask them for an estimate before they actually begin repairing the instrument.

You might also want to look into a new case, so if you spend the money getting your violin repaired, it will be better protected against future damage.

  5. Well the bridge is replaceable, but I dunno if the wood on the front is fixable. Take it in to a music store and ask. Good luck.
