I work in a shopping complex. There are no recicling deposits in the whole site and we (and everyone else) throw away tons of paper and plastic every week.

Who do I report this to?

And how?

Thanks.

  1. well, of course, it would be good to tell anyone as high in the "food chain" of you shopping complex as possible, lol.

but,if thats not possible, sometimes you just have to get things started by yourself.

just get a regular trash can or bucket and mark it as "paper"  "cans" or "bottles" as desired in your own store, then bring them home and dump them in your recycling facilities. and spread this on to your neighbors.

    keep the chain going!

  2. I have this same problem. I work in a restaurant sort of fast-food restaurant (we deliver, you can sit down and eat, or you can get a quick meal to go) and we use SO MUCH plastic, metal cans, glass, etc. and it all goes straight into the dumpster. I brought it up to my boss, but he doesn't really care. Maybe when it's too late for our environment, people will care more.

I wish recycling were mandatory. I'm sure you're not the only one who thinks this way. Maybe you could get involved in local government, or just find a way to get the issue out there?

  3. Approach your health & safety team and put it too them, look at recycling plants and see if they have bins for paper & cardboard, plastic, bottles and general rubbish. Most recycling and rubbish tips offer recycling bins free of charge, general rubbish you have to pay for disposal and removal.

  4. Why don't you do what we do at my work - We collect bottles and cans, then send the recycle money to the "Make a Wish Foundation". My co-worker started this a couple of years ago. We've all donated approx. $300, so far.

Of course, you can send the money to any charity.
