Earlier I felt like having a Chinese chicken curry and ordered by phone and was quoted £6 whilst on the phone, but when the order arrived I was told it was a mistake and it was actually £6.50 I paid it of course and even gave a 50p tip. Then later on in the evening I discovered stapled to the menu a receipt and hidden behind the price £6, now I phoned back the shop to complain and mentioned That I was within my rights to refuse the order if I had discovered this at the time, however they explained that it was £5 and £1.50 and never apologized for their mistake and would take any other action.

I know its only 50p but I feel conned and disgusted that I never even got and apology.

Is there anything I can do about this legally as for all I know they could be doing it to everyone in my area ,or should I just put it down to bad luck and not use them again.

Can anyone offer any advice ..Thanks

  1. Hey, come on it's 50p !!!  Get some perspective.  It is just not worth it.  It will cost you more than 50p in another phone call.  You can write a letter (always a good way to get rid of any anger) whether you send it is another issue but it will discahrge the immediate stuff.  Don't use them again.  A child will die tonight because there are not enough organs being donated and you are worried about 50p.  Jump up & down yeah, but then draw a line underneath it and move on.  Life is just to short, don't let this sod take another minute of your time (or any more of your hard earned cash)

  2. Write a letter to the editor or to any consumer columnist in a newspaper in your area.

  3. order not again from those creeps

  4. Don`t use them again and tell your mates not to either,if you complain to them and they say next time you can have something off the menu free, don`t, you don`t know what they are doing to it,

  5. You cannot sue people for being rude.  Your best recourse is to not order from then again, and warn others about their shady pricing practices.  Furthermore, is it conceivable that they charge 50p extra just for the convenience of delivering to your door?

  6. Just do not order from them again. No need to make life miserable over 50p.

  7. Did you speak to the manager or owner or did u just complain to who ever answered?

If you really feel strongly about this go directly to the top... take the receipt and tell them what happened and who u spoke to that did not give you good service.

If the receipt says 6 then by law it is 6.  and if they charged more the bill should reflect it.

Let the manager know this is the principle of it that you are upset about.  If he apologises be gracious... if he offers the 50p dont take it!  if he doesnt then dont go back and let them know they have lost a good customer

  8. Okay lets put this into perspective, firstly you’ve been conned out of 50p and what does that buy you these days, a small packet of crisps at best.

My advice is don’t fret on this or what you assume they may be doing to others as it could and probably is a genuine mistake, and yes they should have offered an apology at the very least, by all means tell people you know about it if it makes you feel better but look at it this way you’ll not be conned again will you!!

So put it down to experience and better still if it ever does happen again then you can argue the quoted price and refuse the order and I’m sure they would accept rather than let food go to waste.

You may well get more than your money back next time :)

    Best wishes.

  9. If they refused to offer the extra money back to you, they do not deserve your business.  Go elsewhere ,where they value their customers.  Make certain that you were speaking to some one in authority though as employees sometimes never give an inch.  I have a business, and know that the customer is always right and I will take a loss just to keep them happy.  Most owners and managers know to do this.

  10. Phew!. Forget it mate.

  11. Hey, now come on. Ask yourself, do i really care? Do you like the food, what's the normal service like. If this was a one of who gives a ****! I would just think "you swines you conned me out of 50p" and i would never think about it again. Get some real problems.

  12. Tell them you will never buy anything from them again. And then don't .

  13. report it to the local tradings standards office
