Help!! Need fast, healthy meals that will help me lose weight!

I'm semi-clueless about how to cook. I can follow directions, use burners and ovens, skillets etc., but I don't know how to cook fresh food. I need recipes that will help me lose weight, are healthy, and fast and easy to prepare(since I'm a beginner, cooking wise). Snacks are good too, I can't eat much at once so no big portions please! Thank You!

  2. The American Heart Association has a website that offers some recipes, but if you don't want to do anything difficult, try this:

    Lettuce -- the darker the variety, the more nutrients.  Try romaine.   Chop some up.

    Add some veggies you like:  cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots (shred a bunch and leave covered tight in the fridge for a couple of days), fresh mushrooms, red onions or whatever you like.

    Add some meat:  drained tuna, cooked and sliced chicken, a little bit of steak sliced thin, chopped turkey.

    Sprinkle just a little dab of cheese:   strong flavored cheese is best because you can use less.  Parmesan or blue are great for that.  Smoked gouda is good, too.

    Watch the dressings!  They are where most people add on way too many calories.  

    Want some crunch?  Forget the croutons, add 1 tablespoon of slivered almonds or toasted pecans or walnuts.

    Add a little flat bread (just a little!!), made of whole grains because you need a few whole grain carbs every day.  

    Want to have dessert?  Have some fruit.  There are recipes for delicious toppings made of yogurt and fruit juices and nuts you can make something really tasty.  Epicurious.com
