Help! Need info?

ok. so i heard something about scallops cleaning water. do u know anything about that? and would just the shell work? or do i have to use the whole thing? also would clams work as well?

this is for a science fair project and my teacher is crazy and didnt help at all

What they are talking about is that scallops will filter the water as a method of feeding. In the process, that will clean the water. You will need a live animal for this.
