Okay, well, I'm currently home schooled (going into 8th grade tomorrow), but I REALLY want to try out High School for my freshman year, to see if I like it or not, and if I do, I'll stay, if not, it's back to homeschooling.. What kid is a kid who hasn't experienced at least one year in a public high school, if you catch my drift. :P Anyway, my Mom is a bit reluctant to let me go back to public school I was in public school up until about 5th grade.. Didn't work out, had a bit of drama, and school system targeting (if you know what I mean), but we've moved somewhere more pleasant since then. She's still a bit worried about the same thing happening twice. She's not willing to try it just once more.. I am on the other hand. ANYWAY, can any of you give me some good, credible reasons to allow my mother to let me try a public school one last time? (Just an FYI, I don't really have any 100% true friends right now, so yeah.. I think socializing is gonna be a big main reason, which she's probably gonna ignore, but whatever)

Please respond! I find it important that I do! :)

  1. I wish you a lot of luck.

It is so vital and important that I hope she realizes it.

You will be missing out on a lot if you do not go to school.

The socialization is very important and shouldn't be downplayed.

Even if your parents are school teachers, they can not match what a variety of school teachers can bring to the table not to mention the student mix.

  2. Instead of focusing on attending PS for "socializing" why don't you stress to your mom that you need more social opportunities.

Are there home school groups in your area that offer activities for teens/pre-teens? If not, check with your local Y, park and rec etc for activities.

I noticed on another question you started that you are agnostic.

You might be interested in youth groups through Universalist http://www.uua.org/

    or Unity http://www.unity.org/

  3. the best shot you have is talking to her straight up, pick the right moment so shes free to listen to all your reasoning and concerns.  let her know how passionate about the idea you are, and let her know that your strong and can deal with issues that arise. she just cares about you so it might be hard to convince her, so try to show her that your up for the challenge
