My two year old just colored on our brand new microfiber chair. Its tan, she used a navy blue crayon. We've only had the chair for a couple of days, so I don't know how to care for it. Help!!

  1. Try using a toothbrush with some Clorox Bleach!

  2. They really use microfiber for upholstery? Hard to believe. I use the cloths for polishing cars. Drop one and it's throw away time. Everything clings to it and it's impossible to get all the leaves and dirt off. I haven't found anything, including the washing machine, which will clean them.

  3. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser should do the trick. If not that you can try a baby wipe.

  4. Remove Crayon Stains From:

Acrylic Fabric, Cotton, Linen, Modacrylic, Nylon,

    Olefin, Polyester, Spandex, Wool/washable

Scrape to remove the excess. Place the stain between two pieces of white blotting paper and press with a warm iron. Change the papers as the stain is absorbed. This stain can easily spread, so use care while pressing. On colorfast white cotton or linen, try pouring boiling water through the stain. After using either method, allow fabric to dry. If any trace remains, flush it with a dry-cleaning solvent such as Afta Cleaning Fluid. If any dye remains, sponge (the method of using light strokes with a dampened pad working outward from the center of the stain) it with 1 part rubbing alcohol (do not use on acrylic or modacrylic) in 2 parts water. Rinse well with clear water and allow to dry.

The other thing you can do is saturate a clean cloth with WD-40 then blot the crayon with it.  Follow that with by sponging with warm water and dish detergent.

  5. Please don't use bleach, as it will ruin the fabric. I have used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with good results. A baby wipe will clean most of it off in a pinch as well. For future reference, you can use alcohol to clean ink stains (not highlighter) out of micro fiber. Professionals use an alcohol based cleaner to clean it as the alcohol evaporates and does not require rinsing. I also purchased a mean green machine from Wal-Mart. It is a compact machine that has attachments and you can leave the cleaner solution in it and store it on a shelf in the closet for fast cleanups. It is indispensable and only costed me about $50. It works well for carpets and mattresses too. Very efficient for the busy mom. I have four children and my micro fiber furniture still looks great after 4 years.
