Help. No friends at school?

Today was my first day of college and I hated being a loner. i had to eat alone too. Any advice on how to make some friends? I'm a commuter student so I dont have any roomates. I mean I dont need that much popularity but a couple of people to talk to and hang out with would be nice. So I was wondering if u guys have any advice on how to make new friends in class, around campus, or even outside of campus? Thanks

I was in your situation it's not easy.  The one thing I found was that alot of people on your course will be in the same boat as you.    Try asking someone who is in your group what did you think of your first  day?  Good luck and be assured it will get easier as time goes on.

Because you're a commuter student and don't live in the dorms, the best way to make friends is to get to know people in your classes. Simply try to join in on a conversation that is already taking place, or start one up of your own. Introduce yourself to the people around you. Be open to new ideas, and new people and friends will come in time.
