The unit is running but not cooling the air. There is a good deal of condensation on the pipes running from the outside unit to the furnace. What do we do?

  1. Shut the unit off immediately, the coil is frozen due to a lack of freon in the system. After you shut it off it will take some time to thaw, in the meantime call an HVAC guy and have them re-charge your system. Hope this helps:-)

  2. Open it up and see there is any freezing.  There is usually a large panel about 24" x 16" than you can open to see what is inside.  You might also see a broken belt.  If there is frost leave it alone and then turn it back on.  It could also be it needs to be recharged and it could also be motor blower or something as such is burned out.  If there are parts not moving inside, there is something burned out.  Also look outside and see if there are parts that are not moving, that should be.  Chances are you have a motor blower burned out or if it is an old system freezing.

  3. turn the unit off asap. after that call your local hvac company because you have an leak in your outdoor unit and the will have to re-charge your system. If you have a warranty call them first so you can get a claim #.

  4. If you run your fan only for 45 minutes it will defrost the coil. You will be able to get some cooling when put back to normal operation. Then check for a dirty filter or coil.

  5. The cheapest check- is the filter in the air handler(furnace) clean ???

  6. Yes make sure the indoor air handling unit is running along with the outdoor condensing unit, you man not have any air flow through the indoor coil causing it to freeze up. Check the basics, airflow and filters and breakers.

    Good Luck

  7. Turn off and let it thaw. You are low on freon for some reason. You either are just low or have a hole in your lines somewhere. You will need a repairman as it will keep freezing up on you.

  8. shut it off for a hour or so. Check air pressure at register to see if it feels normal. Check your air filter. It could be something that little
