Help PLEASE! About taking Clomid.. it scares me. ?

Ok. I was on the pill for almost 9 years and got off of it last December. Now, 8 months later, I am still not ovulating. We've only been trying for a few months, but since I have been charting and have had bloodwork that confirms that I am not.. my doc told me that when I come in for my physical in a few months, he will talk to me and my husband about Clomid.

Now, I have read stuff on it and all, but I really want to hear from people that have actually taken it. Is it true that the side effects are horrible? And also, how many people have taken it and resulted in only 1 child. They say there is only a small chance of multiples, but that scares the c**p outta me. I want 2 kids, but NOT at the SAME TIME LOL

Thanks for anyone that can answer!

  1. I've also heard horror stories and am starting Clomid soon so I asked my RE's nurse about this. She said that most people don't have a bad time on Clomid and that headaches are the most common symptom, but of course, we all remember the tales of women being incapacitated for days. My friend's sister was on it for many months before IVF and she was entirely fine, never felt a thing, went to her high-powered job with no problems etc etc

  2. I took it for my first pregnancy.  I have PCOS.  I hadn't had a period in over 6 months when I took it.  The Dr started me out on 25 mg which is a very, very low dose.  I got pregnant the first month.  I don't remember any side effects, but this was 8 years ago and I was on such a low dose.  I asked my Dr about multiples and he said he had never even seen twins with it since he had been practicing (and he wasn't all that young).  Well I proved him wrong.  I got pregnant with more than twins.  I prefer not to say what, just more than 2.  But since then I have found out it is more common than he said.  I am on a higher order multiples (triplets or more) message board and several of the women got pregnant on Clomid.  And when my babies were in the NICU I met another couple whose twins were conceived on clomid and a low dose also.  Don't get me wrong, most people DON'T have multiples with it, but there is always that chance and if you do use it you have to be willing to take that chance and be ok with it if it happens.  Good luck to you with whatever you decide.

  3. I was on clomid and after almost 3 years TTC, I finally got pregnant. I got pregnant my first go around too!!!!

There are definatly symptoms, but not as bad as alot of people make it out to be. It's no worse than pregnancy lol

Oh, and only one baby =)

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

  4. I have been on clomid for 5 months.  The side effects aren't really that bad, the worse thing for me is the hot flashes. (I also can get a little cranky for about 2 days).  Clomid has really helped me, it made my cycles very regular and I have ovulated every month while on it.  I would say go for it, in my opinion the good outweighs the bad.  As for the twins, you only have about a 10% chance, but I agree twins would be very hard work.  Good Luck!!!

    TTC #1 33 months

  5. I am now on my 1st round of Clomid. I was nervous too. Everyone I talked to told me horrible things about the side effects. But the only side effect I have had is a headache. And there is a chance of multiples but it isn't as agreat as you might think. Just relax there are plenty of people who have taken it and they only conceived one child.

    Good luck.

  6. i just started my clomid 100mg 4 days ago. and the symptoms aren't that bad. they say it will make you really dry. well I'm completely opposite, and i had a few hot flashes the first day and yesterday i had mood swings and i cried all day. and today I'm fine. i don't think they are that bad at all compared to other meds
