Question:

Help! Pain in my ankles when I run.?

I play football. After recovering from a pulled quadricep, I began to run again. I get this pain in the back of my ankle that continues down the the heel of my foot. This is both ankles. My practices are about 2 hours. They really hurt durring stretches and warm-ups (Sprints). But towards the end of practice, about 3/4 into it, the pain gets much more barable, to a point in which I can barely feel it.

Please help!

What is wrong?

How can I fix it?

Thanks!

  1. It's probably because you developed an awkward gait or posture while you were recovering from the pulled quadricep.  Many people experience pain while recovery from an injury - usually on the opposite side of the body, because they put more pressure on the other foot/leg to compensate for the injury on the opposite side.  Seems like you might have developed something similar & started exerting more weight on your ankle (perhaps leaning back against the heel a bit?).

You should consider getting an insole for inside your shoes to balance your posture.  And if that still doesn't work, go to the doctor.
