I'm already paying for both.

1st place : Owner lied to my face about a few things.. not very happy about that.

-They have weight room

-kickboxing champ(upper body only)

-Good Wrestling coach

-mediocre brazilian jiu-jitsu

-Boxing

-Muay Thai

-Open Mat/Sparring mid day.

CONS

- mediocre BJJ

-kickboxing coach teaches both boxing and muay thai. He has only fought w/ upper body rules w/ no knee's, elbows, or leg kicks.

-Owner Lied to my face.

-Lost 4 instructors in 1 month.

-No MMA class offered.

-Open all day.

2nd School

-Mainly a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school. Taught by a solid brown and purple belt.

-2x a week boxing for 1 1/2 hours from a very good boxing instructor.

1x a week Muay Thai from a muay thai fighter.

2x a week Judo.

CONS-

- No-Gi only once or twice a week

-Muay Thai//boxing//Judo cost money for each class. Not included in a package.

Which place should I stick with? thanks for the advice. Only looking for opinions from people training for MMA or that have experience.

  1. go ironworks in kingsnorton my mate use to train there good mma place and has a massive gym next to it

  2. the second school because the boxing/muay thai instructor doesnt seem that professional and if the school lost 4 instructors that is not a good sign. for the second school the no gi isnt that bad. when it comes to real professional grappling competitions or even mma they dont use the gi anyway.

  3. Go with whatever option has more notable fighters/practitioners  there.  Forget about equipment, and glitz, you need skilled grapplers/wrestlers/boxers/Muay-Thai practitioners that stand out, and have a proven track record.

  4. thats a tough one the first one doe snot sound good at all one you were lied to the 2nd thing that turned me off is 4 instructors in 1 month somethigns wrong all shcools loose instructors ego money control issues get in the way thats life but 4 in 4 weeks somehtigns wrong there plus not much to do with MMA the "muay thai" guys sounds more like tradional boxer more then muay thai and there no MMA class another red light there you need time to put it together I work strictly stand up and then strictly ground (both submission and just wrestling) but we have classes where its all together you have to do MMA sparring your stand up changes when there are take downs in volved

2nd shcool sound slike a better run business to start with just did not like the seperate paying for muay thai and judo etc.

if those are your only 2 options i like the second shcool dont sound like the first one is very well run to start with
