Help- Planning my engagement party mid sep-dont know where to hold it!!?

I really need some help and advice. So my true love has proposed after waiting 4 years for me and i said YES!!

Now we want to hold an engagement party in mid September.

I really want to have the party outdoors - by a lake or somewhere, but i dont know where to look, and those of you who are familiar with British weather know that it cannot be trusted so im worried what happens if it rains! I dont really want to get a marquee as it wil be a small party, about 30 people max.

So my question is, where can i hold the party, keeping in mind we really want it to be by a lake or some outdoor place. Also, would it be ok to have a bbq, considering the function will take place after 6pm or should i have a proper sit down meal? Im so confused can someone please help!!

Many resorts and golf courses have places where you can hold parties and they provide coverings as well as inside with patios where people can consistently travel in and out.

I would choose a public park where it is cheaper, and they have gazeebo's with bar b que pits. You can also have catering sent to these outdoor gazeebos.

If you choose one of these it will be relxed and everyone can eat and mingle at their own choosing. You can also have a band or karaoke, and kids at the party.
