Help Please Hamster 911

Question

i got my hamster to mate and he went crazy.So i separated them.And he got cuts and ect. but now he WONT run. and he dosent get cuts or anything. and hes not crazy for her anymore. But its UNHEALTHY for hamsters not to run on a wheel .What do I do?

The cage is probably a tad small, get a bigger one, and take him to the vets ! x

You should get a bigger cage, a ball for him to run around in, and more research on mating.

it sounds like your hamster is not willing to mate, which is fine. and dont be concerned about the wheel thing, male hamsters are very laid back and often do not run all over the place

get it a bigger cage and a bigger wheel its backs probably hurting from bending it in the wheel.and hamsters like to run at night wen all the lights r out so he may b running wen u r asleep but please get a bigger cage with a bigger wheel

NO NO NO!!!!!!!! you DO NOT purposly mate them in the first place! they are solitary. they shouldn't have even been in the same cage. he will not be interseted in her again until shes in heat. GET ANOTHER CAGE FOR HER NOW!!!!!! they are like i said solitary and should NOT ever be together, ESPECIALLY TO PUPOSLY MATE!!!! the mother hamsters have a HIGH RATE OF EATING HER OWN YOUNG!!!!! start lining up homes for them NOW!!!!!! he will be fine as long as they heal. trust me, you can't make him run on the wheel, he will if he feels well enough.

sorry to be mean but you HAVE to research the type of hamster before you get it, let alone MATE THEM!!!!

i heard that petsmart only sells male hamsters...maybe he tried to mate with a male and got the c**p kicked out of him. now he's despondant because his urges are all atwist.

i would like to correct the person about hamsters on the bottom i used to breed hamsters when i was a kid and never had the issue before but hamsters are very social creatures though i would have to ask what kind of hamster the female is ? but what i would do if you can set a video camra or something to see if the hamster runs at night when you asleep and if its activy does not increase i would see about talking to a petsmart person i belive they have a vet area there that if there where a real problem they could tell you secondly hamsters become in heat when the male hamster is around the female so many books have said that i had read when i was a young kid a hamsters incrubation period is 12 days so if you breed them dont keep them in the same cage more then 3 or 4 days and then seprate them and see what happens also you need to seprate them becouse the male hamsters will eat the baby hamsters  also even though a hamster can have up 12+ kids you need to check the cage to see if there are in dead babys in the cage afther she has had them also you can try geting hamster ball and let him roll around in that as well i know when i was breeding we had a golden hamster and fancy hamsters we did not have dwarf or robo dwarfs there interaction may be diffrent in the aspect they tend to be a bit on the meaner side but rodents do not come into heat until they are around a male counter part so i would still watch for babys

First off, that cage is too small for any hamster to live in.

Secondly, the wheel, depending on the size of your hamster, may be too small for it to run in.

Try getting a bigger cage, and a bigger wheel.

You may not see him run, if he does, hamsters are nocturnal, so while you are sleeping, he may be running like crazy.
