  1. • Uses and purposes of standardized testing

    1. The purpose is to see how each school is doing at teaching the curriculum and how each individual student is doing to retain knowledge. A very easy to mark, unbiased test. I think it should be  done every third year of school.

    2. The people who benefit the most is the government, or school board since it makes it a lot easier for them to give out grants of money to schools who are doing exceptionally well.

    • Effects of standardized testing on students, teachers, administration and parents.

    1. Based on my own kids, around the time of tests, all children get very stressed out, both the over achievers and the kids who dont really care about regular tests. These tests can help determine what classes they will be in next year.

    2. Hmm, I am not really sure as I am not a teacher but I do know that teachers really drill in facts around the time of the test and give out practise tests with they wouldnt do for any other test.

    3. Before testing, the atmosphere is very tense and nervouse in an classroom. Some of the teachers my child had gave out snacks and relaxing talks about how the test wont determine their whole like but after the test, it is a lot more relief that it is finally over.

    • Effect of standardized testing on education

1.I believe it dos since you can look at what questions the majority of the grade got wrong and can go back and change how you would usually teach that part to something more exciting or something that makes the fact a lot more clearer.

    2. I think it enhances their knowledge but not their learning skills. School isnt all about reading book and remembering the information. The standarnized test doesnt require you to go out in the real world like on field trips but instead requires you just to study the old fashion way, books.

    3. I am not really aware of how my school is doing in the category of standarnized testing but I know every teacher gets the feeling that they are actually making a difference in a kids learning when he or she gets the top mark of the whole, city or state.

    • Ethical issues regarding standardized testing

    1. As my kids do speak english, I am not sure how the teachers make accomadations for nn-english speaking children but I bet that they do get some special help in the translation of the test.

    2. I do not think they are at all. They give an equal chance to all kids about their knowledge of the subject.
