  1. some people on yahoo are creeps, they give false advice or links to con  an innocent person into ruining their computer.

If the link seems ok, like a site thats well known, your fine.

one way to make sure the link is ok is copy the name of the site and google it to see if its genuine and safe

  2. not necesserly but keep your firewall on just in case but itt mostly wont do anything so relax ok :P

    hope that helped

  3. sometimes they can cause a virus x*x

  4. Yes it is possible that your system may get infected with trojans.. and similar stuff if the link you clicked takes you to malicious website of that sort., this risk is there through out the web and not on the yahoo answers alone

  5. No nothin happens unless that site has currently any spyware or viruses.

  6. it will probably just redirect u to another page

  7. lol no. maybe another screen will pop up.

there is this McAfee security that works well for me.

shows what sites are not good an all that stuff.

    i trust it

  8. it depends off course! just enable your anti virus or spam protection for security

  9. no thats if there answers are  just make sure there info is good u can always tell

  10. People usually leave links to help you out. If you click on them you will be redirected to another page. For instance http://yahoo.com

  11. it depends, only if the person who provided the link wanted it to do so.

your best option is to copy and paste the link into the url bar.

  12. Yes, you will release Satan from h**l.

  13. depends on what kind of link it is

    usually not =)

  14. Only if the link is connected to a virus.. Not likely, but possible.

  15. keep your virus protection up to date and hopefully it won't.

  16. did i get 10 pts?

  17. if you have a good antivirus and firewall, you should be fine.  otherwise - yes.  some websites will plant trojan programs on your computer just by visiting the site.  they can use this for identity theft, or to use your computer to spam someone, or to simply mess with your computer.  you usually don't want to click on links that you don't trust, but the best protection is to get good security software.  I use CA Security Suite, it doesn't mess with your computer as much as Norton or McAfee (of the two Norton is by far the worst), but it still tells me if the site is trying to download something or if it is likely a site used to commit fraud.

  18. As long as your firewall is on, antivirus software is up to date, anti spyware is on and all security settings are tweaked then you should be ok.

  19. it should not do what the link will do will take u to the website just make sure u have anti virus and a firewall on your computer just in case

  20. generally not, but its possible you go to some "bad" websites. i suggest using the newest version of your webbrowser. also consider using firefox ( http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ ).

  21. Depends on what the link actually goes to. To be safe don't click on any link unless you know where it will lead you to. You could click on a link that directs you to a page loaded with very bad things.

  22. OMG, Just go and format your computer right now to save the pain

    i feel bad for u !

  23. Most links are safe, some people post un safe links.

I use free McAfee siteadvisor, this program let me know if the site is safe.

Some people check the person profile first or even send them an e mail before clicking the link.
