Question:

Help! Possible Miscarriage?

Hi my girlfriend is 9 weeks pregnant. She had a miscarriage in april ago. She has been experiencing normal pregnancy symptoms, back pain, frequent urination, etc. For 4 or 5 days she was experiencing very sharp pains in her pelvic area that were extremely painful. The pains came back a couple days later and this time she bled. She was wiping after she urinated and found a relatively light amount of blood down there. When she went a little later there was more blood when she wiped. The bleeding then went away for a couple days while the pains continued. In the past four days, she started off with somewhat heavy bleeding which has gotten lighter, and heavier and lighter and heavier over these days. Her pains have been so severe at times that she could barely walk around. However the bleeding has not yet become what I would call heavy. The bleeding however is definitely red and the bleeding is constant, albeit somewhat light. She changes her pads so often that I'm honestly not sure how light the bleeding actually is.

Also, she has not had morning sickness as bad in the last couple days or so as she was having earlier on in her pregnancy. It is important to note we went to the doctors 2 or so weeks ago and told him about the sharp, bad pains, and he said that she was close to a miscarriage and put her on bedrest. I should also note that she is only 4'11 100 pounds. Can anybody help me decipher this situation? Btw, doesn't spotting only happen during the first week after fertilization?

  1. First off, I am so sorry that the two of you have experienced a miscarriage in the past.  I hope that is not what she is once again experiencing, however, I am afraid it may be.  You need to get her back to the doctor as soon as possible or an ER, they can do an internal sonogram to determine if the fetus is still intact and an HCG by the numbers to measure the level, if the number is dropping then she is going to/or has already miscarried.

    Good luck.

  2. omg do not listen to allie it is not normal to bleed like that! go to an ER!

    * i hate when some women say oh i had a period during pregnancy so youre okay...that irk my nerves! lol but because the bleeding is red i would definetly take her to a doctor if possible. good luck

  3. GO TO THE HOSPITAL!  It sounds like she did miscarry.  Why did you just sit around for days letting her bleed while she's pregnant?  Don't you both know that it's not normal???

  4. Yes spotting does happened but it is so light that no pad is actually needed If she is bleeding and she is pregnant she should have gone to the E.R but I'm not in her underwear so don't know how much blood there actually is but what you are describing sounds like she already lost the baby she needs to go to the doctor to see what actually happened she might need more medical attention

  5. i had three periods with my first baby. she is fine but you should have her go get a sonogram done. if she goes to the er they will give her one. they can tell you better then

  6. Go to the hospital - and now.  Don;t wait for answers - just go to the hospital.

If you have not had an US yet to determine if the pregnancy is indeed within the uterus and viable then please just go get one.

  7. You can spot throughout pregnancy.  I am 26 weeks and spot once a month.  But she should really go back to the doctor.  She is far enough along to have an ultrasound done and see if things are ok.  But I would call the doctor first thing in the morning and talk to him.

  8. Bleeding can occur anytime. But honestly bleeding really isn't a good sign. I would go to the ER or see if her doctor can't work her in. I hope everything is okay.

  9. We're not medical professionals, so you shouldn't ask us questions over health safety. If the doctor said it's a miscarriage, then it probably is, and you should follow his directions by staying in bed.
