Question:

Help! Should I take Driver's Ed or Chemistry for school? (what would colleges like better?)?

Ok, so Driver's Ed. is offered in my school. My sched. is so packed this year so I can't take both.

Driver's Ed.

Pros

1. I will be able to drive 1 month after I turn 16!

2. My mom has a tough job and she really wants me to get my license to help run errands

3. I will be able to get a job and be involved in extracurriculars (my mom had problems with driving me back and forth) which would look better on my college application.

Cons

1. I wouldn't be able to take Chemistry ( I am going into science field: premed after high school, I need all the science I can get)

2. I need a tough course load so colleges will accept me

Chemistry

Pros

1. I am going into med. field, need science!

2. Be impressive to colleges (is typically a 11th grade course, but I don't have room in my sched. for it next year)

3. Colleges care more about my classes than whether I can drive or not

Cons

1. I would have to take Driver's ed during the summer, and I wouldn't get my license till I am almost 17!!!

2. I wouldn't be able to get a job and extra curriculars till I am 17 (bad option, I need those extracurriculars and job to get into college!!!)

  1. Definitely Chemistry. Colleges don't even factor in a class like Drivers Ed into your GPA. They drop things like that so besides your ability to get your license it wont really do you any good in the college arena. Also, in regards to your mom not being able to drive you to extracurriculars, get a friend who has taken the drivers ed class to drive you to them! There is ALWAYS someone who can drive you.

  2. Take driver's ed.

Your school might have a summer chemistry class.
