Help- Starbucks Problems

What are the pros and cons of Starbucks implementing these ideas to help maintain/bring back their unique atmosphere?

1- Improving their design- making sure ALL Starbucks has comfortable seating (sofas, chairs with cushions etc)

2- Cleanliness/Hygiene- ensuring that machines are cleaned throughly and frequently. All tables are cleaned throughout the day, gloves are used when serving people.

3- Freshly grinding their coffee on site to have the coffee aroma in the air.

I think price would definitely be a factor for all of the above mentioned ideas, but aside from that what are the pros and cons? Any better ideas then mine to help its atmosphere from a MARKETING perspective (no price adjustments/coupons). I would really appreciate the help. Thank you!

I don't see how price would be a factor for #2.  You must maintain the starbuck's standard of cleanliness, that is not a matter of price.  You will lose business faster than you can blink if people think your restaurant is dirty.

As for #3, yeah it might work, but people who come to starbucks already are coming for coffee.  They don't need the smell to entice them.  Also the grinding noise, is just that noise.  It bothers some people.

Advertise free WI, if you have it of course.  This is good if you live in a College Town.

The problem with starbucks is the price and that you feel like when you go there you can't just get a cup of coffee.  You have to get some fancy drink.  So maybe promote the simple cup of joe.

I went to a starbucks in Alexandria Virginia once, and for  the Christmas season on Friday's gave our free gingerbread coffees.   That was great!
