Konnichiwa, my fellow sea dwellers. I have never ridden a surfboard, so the whole feel of things is something to be learned. I am a hobby shaper of skimboards. I normaly take stright sheets of pink instoulation foam u would get at like lowes or homedepot and shape it, smooth it, sand, paint, and glass it. Any ideas or help for making a surf board? I am confused as to make the finbox and such. Also is it normal to have strips of wood to edge boards? I saw this on Firewires site on how they made their's. Would that be vital? Any tips as skimboards are much smaller, and sometimes not as wide. Anything would be great, as i have said once, i have never ridden a surfboard, but i understand the length and demesnions, rocker. thickness, and such. But anything would be great, thanks in advance for the input!

  2. firewire boards are kind of unique so i would not worry about refering to them. A standard surfboard has a piece of ply running down the centre which is called a stringer.you finn set up these days is a lot  easier due to the fact you can buy the FSC system and makes putting fins on easy. good luck.
