Help!!!!!!! (T-shirt problem)?

I bought a couple t-shirts and the sleeves are huge - well, not huge, but they're not fitted the way I like them. Do you think if I shrank the whole shirt the sleeves would also shrink? I don't know how to sew, but is there a way I could alter the sleeves? Please help, this is really important.

  1. Um..I have had the same problem what I have noticed to happen the sleeves don't shrink how I ever really wanted them to they stay the same proportion to the shirt as if it were brand new just a little smaller. If you get what I'm sayin...So I don't really know...good luck

  2. The problem with shrinking a garment you can never be sure how it will shrink.  Will the length change but not the width?  Or the other way around?

You have to be careful when taking in the sleeve that you don't create a lumpy seam that will irritate under your arm.

The only thing I can think of that is easy and may work would be to cut elasticized thread 3/4s as long as the diameter of the sleeve hem and work it though the space in the hem then tie it off.  This will pull the lower edge of the sleeve in closer to your arm with out being too tight.

  3. okay well,

    usually when things shrink,

they shrink upwards as opposed to horizontally.

at the most it will shrink an inch, if that.

    hope this helps ! :)
