Advice please!

Ok, my 10 year old sister Meghan just went out with her friend Sam, so i'm home alone. The phone rang so I went to get it. We have caller id, but I noticed that the display screen had a dash then an A on it, like -A.

The conversation went like this:

Me: Hello?

Caller: Uh, hello, is Meghan there?

Me: No, she's out. Who's calling please?

Caller: *silence with whispering in the background*

Me: Hello?

Caller:*after more silence* Erm, it's her friend Samantha (note: I know Sam,and a) it sounded nothing like her, but the caller sounded like they were imitating her voice. b) Everyone calls her Sam anyway, she'd never call herself Samantha.

Me: *puzzled* Who?

Caller: It's her friend Samantha.

Me: Really? 'Cause she just left the house with Samantha 5 minutes ago.

Caller: Oh. Ok then.

Me: Bye.

Caller: Bye *hangs up*

I'm a little bit worried. Thinking now, I vaguely recognize the voice as a girl who used to be my sisters best friend, but now they argue alot. I did callback and I have the number, so either they weren't trying to conceal it or they tried and failed to.

So anyway, please can you help me with these questions:

1. What does the -A thing on the caller id screen mean?

2. If I have the number is there anyway I could trace it, or find out whose it is?

3. Am I being paranoid? Is it just some kids playing a joke or is something else going on here?

4. Do you think theres a possibilty my sister is getting bullied? 'Coz I think if my sister had been in, and I had put the phone onto her without asking who it was, it would have ended in tears.

5. Should I tell my sister or just forget about it?

Hurry please!!

  1. 1. I don`t know. Sorry.

    2. Yes. look at the numbers area code and look it up online and it should narrow it down too that particular part of the city.

    3. No. I`ve been in this kind of situation before. If whoever was calling was her previous best friend, she was probably trying to imitate Sam t tell her their not friends anymore.

    4. Probably.

    5. You shoould probably keep it to yoourself. But you can try to tell her.

  2. give all this 2 your parents, NOT your 10 year old sister. alot of freaks out there, do whats right.
