Hi, I have an Elura 50 Video Camera and a Windows XP Computer. My first problem is, whenever i try videotaping off the memory card, the clip can only last 10 seconds. Then it comes to me being unable to upload videos onto my computer. Does anyone know what i should do?

  1. The Canon Elura50 camcorder is a miniDV tape based machine.

Use the camcorder's DV port and connect it to the firewire400 port of your computer with a firewire cable. Not USB. Firewire, IEEE1394a and i.Link - and DV are all the same thing.

No, a USB-to-firewire converter will not work.

  2. I have the elura 65, it's a minidv camcorder. The sd card is only for stills, you should be using minidv tapes.

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder. Make sure your camera is in playback mode.

The fine print in your manual makes reference to firewire (ieee 1394) connection.
