Help! Volunteering/Service

Question

So, I'm going into my sophomore year of college, and im looking for some volunteering experience. When i graduate i plan to join the peace corps so i want some experience that will look good on my resume for that. The thing is, i don't want to serve at my local soup kitchen or work in my area, because my town doesn't need it as much as others. I want to travel abroad or to other parts of the US to help.. however, being in school i only have breaks and the summer to help out ... so - my question, does anyone know of any groups I could look into to help serve and volunteer at different places for a short period of time like a few weeks or so ?? I tried americorps but u gota serve for like 10months at a time ... so i cant.. :(

try looking into different americorps programs. i know they have them for different lengths of time periods. maybe also you should try talking to your college counselor about it.
