  1. 114+90=204

    204

    1. first multiply everything that has a next to it by 5

    3*5

    4*5

so in the first parenthaseis you have 15+4 which equals 19

second parenthaseis you have 20-2 which equals 18

then you multyply 19*6 and 18*5

    19*6=114

    18*5=90

    114+90=

    204

  2. well to simplify you have to multiply out the expression by using the distributive property.

    do the left side first.

    6 (3a+4) means multiply 6 by 3a and then 6 by 4. this leaves you with 18a+24.

now the right side. 5 (4a-2).  use the distributive property again, multiplying 5 by 4a and then by -2. you get 20a - 10.

now insert the + sign in between the left and right sides, like it was before.

    (18a+24)+(20a-10)

now you can combine 18a and 20a, giving you 38a. then combine 24 and -10, giving you 14.

this leaves 38a+14. this is the simplification.

    where a=5, you multiply 38 by 5 (190) and add 14. you get 204

  3. 6(3a+4) = 18a + 24

    5(4a-2) = 20a - 10

Add those together, and you get

    18a + 24 + 20a - 10 = 38a +14.

    Given that a = 5

    38(5) + 14 = 204
