Help! Wanting to create a website!

Question

I would like to create a website for one of my clubs at school/after school. I was wondering if there is a way I could create a basic website I could post events, videos, forums, etc. Just a basic website where me and my friends can come to check things out for the club or hangout and chat. Also is it free to make a website like this?

There is all sorts of free webspace out there (geocities for example) but if you want to make it yourself you need to learn something called HTML (very simple really, i promise). If you don't want to make it from scratch you can use programs (some of them free and easy to use like NVU) that create a site for you, all you have to do is type things in like you would in Microsoft Word and it does the rest for you. Then you face the problem of having somewhere to upload this site. Like I stated before, you can put it on a site like Geocities, or you can purchase a web hosting plan and put the site there. For testing I would use all the free things you can (the school might even host your site for you, I know my High School and Colleges both were willing).

Depends, if your looking to set it up yourself (meaning design the whole thing like the layout and such) then you'll need a file hosting site like http://www.ripway.com/, or http://jgiff.net/ If you do this you'll have to know something about HTML codes. But this way is alot better b/c you can basically set it up however you want, which is alot better for some people.

If your looking to just have a premade layout, and not set it up yourself, or design it. For a simple way you can use http://members.freewebs.com/ or http://www.weebly.com/ Those two sites have premade layouts and designs.

For those two you just pick the layout, and type in the words you want for certain pages and spaces. You can add pics and such as well.

So if you really don't want to have to do much set up you can use one of those two.
