Help! What do you tell your spouse when he's out of work and looks as if he's not trying to get one?

My fiance has been out of work now for about 3 months. He has been on a couple of interviews, and has had no luck. Unfortunately he has a background and that seems to slow him down. But lately it seems as though he has given up and totally relies on me to pay all the bills and rent. I just got a second job and he still has no luck. He says he's looking, but I'm not at home most of the time to see if he's trying or not. I'm only home on the weekends and I know for a fact that he doesn't look for jobs on the weekends. Every day when I call him to check up, his cousin (who also has no job) is hanging around the house. What do I do? I have tried to ask him if he has any luck, but he only gets offended, saying that I think he's a good for nothing bumb. What should I do? And how should I go about doing it without hurting his feelings? I love him very much and I really want this to work out. Please be kind with your answers... Thanks.

  1. Tell him you need to talk.  Let him know that you are trying to be as patient as you can, but it's hard since you are the only one working.  Ask him if he would like you to help him look.  Try not to be critical, tell him no matter what job he gets you will be supportive.
