hey everyone..

so this is my deal..

i am watching my newphew this summer in New York.

He is 2 years old and i dont know what to do with him.

I have baby sat other children but they have always been older so there has been more to do with them.

I am lost.

i have already taken him to a Backyardigans Live Show and to the park and i am planning on taking him to the zoo this week and other museums for children but i wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on what else i could do with him.

I hate to keep him home just playing in the back yard that gets boring even to him.

any ideas is appreciated..

thanks in advance!

  1. one of the most important thing u have ot remember is that little kids get excited over the smallest things! although the things you have done so far are fun. dont get such a lil kid too overwhelmed! bring him to like a childrens muesam, etc. but small things like just staying home doing some crafts, reading books, playing games, etc. could be really fun for him. buy him like a couple new toys. lil kids play great by themsleves sometimes. so go do stuff on the computer, or talk on the phone in the next room while he plays with his toys! he needs to learn to be able to amust him self...also he'll get very happy with a new toy tht isn't something tht he will get bored from very easy! also rent some moviews or something for him! a great website is www.gocitykids.com

for ideas for stuff to do! www.familyfun.com is a good one too. one of my favorite kid crafts to do is find some of those small metal\tin circle pans tht u use for easy baske oven [thy sell them seperate!] then find some old broken crayons. brake them up to about1\2 to 1\3 sizes of a normal crayola crayon put them in the pans covering most the empty spots. then in the TOASTER OVEN put it on 400[varies]\bake for starting about 5-6 minutes. do more if u need. then wait until they cool then take them out to color with! its very fun! [the temps. amount of crayons in the pan, etc. are not too strict just have fun with it and just watch them in the toaster oven! hope this helps!=]

  2. Water Water Water. My kids love the water. Here are a few water crafts to make with him and then to use in the water.

My kids also love just playing with a water hose. Just turn it on and get wet. Make sure to put on sunblock and have fun.

  3. You can teach him to read and go to school. You can play with him. Potty tran him. even play popcorn snow.

  4. How about taking him to the community pool? I take my 2 yr olds there. They have a special section just for babies that my kids love. This might also help you meet other girls who are babysitting and perhaps you could set up some playdates. Just make sure you take sun screen and ask his mother about playdates in the backyard.

  5. well some kids love to help i bought a snowball machine and my kids loves to help make them and we eat icecream by the pool and we play hide and seek in the dark and we  color kids that young love just to spend time with you i know mine does he is 2 and i have one 4 and 6 and a step daughter 8

  6. try some crafts. when i was younger i LOVED to make puppets and toys and i loved to make things for my parents. try coloring or making a collage. take him out for a picinic and if you live by a beach you can take him to play in the sand. my cousins daughter is about three i think and she loves the beach.

  7. Well you have to remember that he is only two, so they get worn out a lot easier. Sometimes staying home is fun to them. I am not from New York, but having a two year old of my own, they love to just go on walks. You don't have to have something special planned for them every day, or they will soon need and want something special every day. I would say choose one day a week to do the museum or zoo thing and then the rest of the time find new parks, or libraries or just go on walks. Try not to overload his system or he can become a little tyrant when you are out with him.

  8. Set up a tent in the backyard for a daytime camp out.  Also you can have a picnic, let him help choose the foods to eat.  Are there any kids his age in the neighborhood that might be able to visit at your home?  You might also setup a small tv with dvd or vcr so that he can watch kid movies/cartoons outside.  Also get a small blow up pool & fill with metal toys, get a kids size fishing pole & tie a magnet to the end of the string & let him "fish" for toys.  Supervision by an adult at all time is mandatory.
