My mum has got Rosacea (mainly just on her cheeks) and the doctors have tried her on so much creams and some pills but none seem to be helping. She refuses to go outside the majority of the time because she's convinced people look at her funny or talk about her and this is not the mum I remember, the mum I remember never cared about what people thought of her and was always going out somewhere. Please give me some advice or suggestions as to what could work, it would mean a lot to see my mum with her confidence back.

  1. a Bag,,   sorry really ask a doctor online goodluck

  2. My sister has it buts its only mild but shes researched about it and mentioned laser treatment. You could look into it, however it can be expensive and requires several visits. x

  3. My mother was saying something about a preparation called Metrogel, my friend is having the same issue as you. See your GP

  4. i know that there's this over the counter cream, but it really depends on whether ur mom is compatible with the cream/ointment. i have eczema, and have had it ever since i was small. none of the creams seemed to work, until i found out there was more to it than creams, i had food allergies too! then i tried derma recomended eucerin, i think its spelled, and its improved ever since. so, try going lighter on the skin, like, dont use harsh soaps when showering and keep the area moisturized. hope ur mom gets better.

  5. I have heard about the NLite laser which may work for rosacea.  Look it up on the internet.

  6. As a make up artist i deal with Rosacea all the time.

My physical advice is to make sure that you mum is doing simple things to help tone down the symptoms like:

Using tepid water to wash her skin, heat fluctuations really can cause more redness.

Making sure that she uses a spf of 30 everyday for sensitive skin on her face. As photosensitive can cause some of the symptoms of rosacea.

Switch to a good skincare line like Darphin. They make an amazing range called Intral, which is made for redness.

Also i would recommend looking at a good camouflage foundation, that will cover but still look natural. Like dermablend, may be a good idea to see a make up artist who specialises in camouflage make up, to give her a lesson.

On the non physical side, there are some great support groups on line that your mum would benefit from like:

    http://rosacea-support.org/

    http://www.rosacea.co.uk/blog/2005/06/ne...

    http://rosaceagroup.org/

Plus you sound like a fantastic support to your mum, and I would show her this post and it will show her how much you care for her.

    Best of luck x x

  7. I sympathise with your Mum feeling that way,but tell her that really people aren't looking at her funnily or talking about her.

Tell her to wear a nice wide brimmed sun-hat that will hide her face a bit.

My other half has had treatment for pre-cancerous face lesions which messed his face up completely and that was the way he got through it.

Her doc might precribe Rosex Gel-it seems to work OK.
