Help! Whats wrong with my Maytag Washer (Model # PAV2300AWW?

My Maytag Washer starts making a buzzing noise and stops completely, then it will start back up about 30 minutes later with the buzzing noise for a couple seconds, then it works okay..for just a little bit and the buzzing noise starts again and it stops working again!

  1. It's broken. Call a repair shop and ask them to send out a technician to diagnose the problem and give you an estimate of the repair cost.


  2. procedure -

    Isolate from supply and turn off water valves.

    Remove lid screws and remove lid,

    Remove back screws and back panel.

    Check motor area for overheating and arcing.

    Check belt condition and security.

    Slacken motor, and remove belt.

    Check drum rotation to identify obstruction or bearing condition.

    Replace defective parts.

    Check motor condition.

    Check brush length and armature condition. Replace if rquired.

    Check belt condition. Replace if required.

    Refit belt and motor.

    Check free rotation.

    Clean pump filter/trap.

    Reconnect supplies and test run.

    Isolate supply if all is correct.

    Refit back panel and top panel.

    Reconnect supply and finish test run.

    Motor capacitor and control board are still suspect. Replace if test run defective.

  3. Disconnect the buzzer or call the "Maytag Man".
