Help! Why is my cat losing her hair?

My cat, she's about 6 years old, has recently started losing her hair. It is just disappearing it seems. I haven't seen unusual amounts of shedded hair anywhere, she just all of a sudden has a LOT less hair. It looks like she has been shaved(you can't see her skin or anything, but the hair is considerably shorter) on the sides and her tail. And the hair that is still long is coarse feeling. Any idea what this could be? She hasn't been acting weird or anything, not like she's sick.

  1. My mom's cat started losing her hair after my mom used some of that carpet powder to make your carpet smell better. Then you vacuum it up. She used it a couple times before realizing that was the problem. So now she doesn't use it anymore and the cat's hair is growing back. Your cat might be allergic to something. I'd take it to the vet to get it checked out if can't figure out what's going on.

  2. I go to the vets, my friends cat did this and it was her tyroid, you should get blood work done.

  3. She could be l*****g these spots if they seem sore. It could be an allergy to something around the house, so check all houseplants and cleaning products etc. If you think it is bad go straight to the vet or a grooming place (most groom cats as well as dogs) to get her checked.

  4. Ask a vet.
