Help! Why isn't my wi fi working???????

Question

I have an HP laptop, and a few days ago my wifi access just ceased; I get no error message or any explanation for that matter. Any assistance is welcomed because I am not tech savvy at all.

There's a switch to turn wifi on and off.  In some models it's at the top of the keyboard, and lit very dimly.  It's easy to accidentally hit the switch and turn wifi off and never notice it.

if you have a separate router and modem, then unplug the power from both, let them sit for 2 minutes.  Plug the power back into the modem, let it sit for 1 minute, then plug the power back into the router and let it sit for about 1 minute, then try your internet again.
