Help With Acting Plan?

I am 13 years old and I live in New York City. My dream is to become an actress. I'm starting high school next year.

Any thing special I should start doing now, or anything?

Any tips, or help is appreciated.

I think I would want to focus more on tv/film so should I move to LA or stay in NY. Staying in NY would be easier for me since all of my family lives there and I've lived there my whole life.

Also, which colleges should I look at?

Thanks in advance for the answers. :)

  1. i actually have the same dilemma as you accept you have a great advantage you live in NYC that is not only a great place to start but loads of talent scouts and audition opportunities are there and open for you. you should experience and learn your role in the oh so big world of acting since your so young and have great potential to learn and grab new things you should just go to open casting calls and try out for theater. (hello new york the center of Broadway) so i admire your dedication and wish you the best.

  2. well just stay in NY for now and take acting classes and theater. LA is the one for film stuff though.

but they have commercial auditions and stuff in ny.

when you're 18 go to a college in california

  3. I know exactly what you mean. Im 14 turning 15 in September. If you really want to start acting my suggestion to you is since you are starting High school, you should take acting classes. Im pretty sure your high school has some. Im gonna be in 10th grade this year, and we have 4 acting classes. I wished that i started in 9th grade so i could have taken all the classes. But only now i realize that i really wanted to start acting. So im taking acting classes for the rest of my high school years. Thats what you should do also.

To gain more  experience i also think that you should try and audition for plays at your local theatre. Look up places in your area that you can go and audition at. Im pretty sure New York has many places.

Dont think about moving to L.A too much! Just because L.A is where they shoot most movies and shows, it doesnt mean that you have to go over there to get discovered. Maybe after you have experience you can get an AGENT, and they look up jobs for you! Like, commercials, shows, movies, etc. Never pay to audition or to get an agent. Agents always get 10% of what you make.

But yeah, thats all i can say. Your still young and you have

alot coming for you! Always remember, you dont automatically get chosen for a part. There will be some let downs, and there will be times when you will get the part. Dont worry, You'll do fine:]
