i went to the dentist last friday and he filled my tooth where i had a cavity. he said he had to cut some of my gums because my gums were drooping into the hole. he then filled it. now it is tuesday and my gum has been in throbbing pain since i got home on friday after the novocain wore off. sometimes the pain will go away and come back. is it normal to hurt and should i wait a little more. will it go away on its own. its hurting as i type this. Help. can i take something to make the pain go away.

  1. It's common for gum tissue to have to be removed like that, but I would think it wouldn't be hurting you still. You might want to call the dentist office to get their opinion, but in the meantime, take some ibuprofen (it's an anti inflammatory so it help with swelling and pain) and swish with a warm saltwater rinse. The saltwater has a soothing effect on painful gums and also helping with swelling.
