I just got a new violin about 3 days ago and of course, its out of tune. I'm VERY new to violin and have no clue on how to tune it. I have been playing piano for a year and a half and I'm wondering if it will help tune my violin. I really need to tune it and i have no time to go ask a teacher or a music clerk. Please someone help me so i can play it asap.

Ill kindly appreciate it if you email me for help at luckygrl7839@yahoo.com

Thank You. :]

  2. Hi XXCrazy

The notes are the same as those on a piano. E A D G in reverse. E is the smallest and G the biggest string. Tune it with the middle octave of the piano.

Now, if the violin sound off a little and it is in perfect tune, you may have to move the bridge back a little if the note sound sharp, and move it forward ifthe note sounds flat. Your reference points are the octave notes. They have to sound inunison.

  3. Unless you have a great ear and understand the mechanics of tuning a violin, you need help.

Look on ebay for a violin Tuner. Find the type that clips onto the violin or bridge. You don't have to buy it at ebay but that will show you what is available.
