Help about greek god hephaestus....?

i need to play him in our class presentation. what clothes should i wear? and what accessories/props? i'm a girl by the way.:) i study in an all-girls school.:)

Hephaestus was a Greek god whose Roman equivalent was Vulcan. He was the god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes.

A blacksmith's tools are an anvil, a pail of water  and a mallet...as for costume why not try overalls and a leather tool apron which doesn't burn easily that will cover your chest and body down to the knees to protect against hot  bits of metal burning you, which is what modern and ancient  blacksmiths would use. If it was allowed you could put  some of those peat firestarters in a  basin and light them. They'd burn for 10 minutes or so in a steady small flame.

Well, as you know, Hephaestus is also called Vulcan.  It is ironic that Zeus gave him Aphrodite as a wife, because he is depicted as ugly.  He is the lame god of the forge, inventor of metalworking and patron of smiths. He is the force behind the volcano, which comes from his Latin name Vulcan.  Today the process of making rubber durable, stable and Strong by heat treating is called "vulcanization."

You have a tough job in trying to portray him, but I would try and have a blacksmith's anvil and hammer (these could be made of something other than the real thing!  Even good pictures might be ok!)  I would also try and incorporate something that would make him terribly ugly, walk with a limp, make you hair scraggly, put some black stuff on your teeth, put some warts on your face, something like that.  It think it would be fun to create a mini volcano, but then I suppose this is not a science class is it!  Good luck with this adventure.  I hope you get a great grade.
