  1. It's hard to give a direct answer here as we don't know the extent, severity & exact progression of the disease.

But Alternative Medicine can be very effective in creating the best possible outcome.

Before you go for a consultation with an alternative medicine practitioner I strongly advise you to get conclusive results of the disease for all members of your family at risk so that you can walk into the consultation with absolute accuracy as to what your actually dealing with; this way the treatment can be as accurate as possible from your practitioner.

Homoepathy is largely regarded as one of the best type of medicine for removing "Inherited Taints" from an individual that are long standing health problems or inherited problems.

The best outcomes are reached by combining Homoeopathy with other sciences; particularly Herbal Medicine.

A good Naturopath who practices both Homoeopathy & Herbal Medicine is best as they use many sciences together to achieve the best possible results.

You can find a good Naturopath in your directory for National Traditional Medicine practitioners.

  2. Since the daughters are okay, I assume your wife does not have the disease and is a carrier.  That means she has one normal X chromosome and one abnormal X chromosome in her eggs.  So her children have a 50/50 chance of getting the defective X.  Since girls get one X from each parent, they will always get a normal X from dad and not have the disorder.  Boys only have one X chromosome, they get X from mom and a Y from dad, so if they get the bad X, they will have the disease.

She cannot be "cured", as there is nothing to cure.  She cannot change her genetic makeup, all her eggs were present at her birth.

It may be possible to have prenatal testing to determine if the fetus is male and has the bad X.   If a male fetus is affected, then you and your wife will have to decide whether to continue the pregnancy or not.

  3. The breathing exercises - pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the genetic problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits. If you feel tired or dizzy stop, and resume after 1 minute.Build up your timing slowly and after three months at the suggested duration get tests done.Continue the pranayam and get another test done after six months, and if OK, then she can have normal  children.

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 15 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom - Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril

then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril

then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril

then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.

This is one cycle of anulom vilom.

Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).

You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.

    Duration : 5 to 10 times

    ----

Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to master the technique. This is  simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

  4. There is no cure for genetic diseases.  Your wifes genetic makeup was determined at her conception.  Gene therapy (cutting out the bad parts and inserting normal codons) is being studied, but clinical use is likely decades away.

She can't be cured, your sons will always have a 50/50 risk of getting the disease, as she gives one of her X chromosomes to them.  Males have one X and one Y.  Females have 2 X chromosomes, so that diseases carried on the X chromosome may not be expressed by females, though they are carriers.    You and your wife need genetic counselling.

Everything in JT's answer is erroneous.  Alties don't actually have a clue about real illnesses.

  5. no ,

  6. If it is x-linked and one of her x chromosomes carries the diseased gene (she's a carrier) then there is a 50% chance each son she has will develop the disease and a 50% chance each daughter will carry it. I don't know of any medicines or techniques that would help it would just be luck. It would be worth talking to a doctor to be sure.
