Help and need to figure this out?

Okay i was coming back from school. I had to go to my aunts house. My sister had brought the DS. When we were leaving from her house my sister decide to put the DS in my bookbag. I had a water bottle in there and i guess it opened and when it did the DS got wet. i forgot about the water and the DS. About 3 days later my cousin came took the DS from my bookbag and turn it on. In about 5 seconds it turned of and it wouldn't turn back on. Its been about one month now and nothing i tried looking on yahoo answer and it said that it might take a few weeks. Nothing has happened and i want to no also if you have warrantycan you get a free repair or a free DS

    'This defect can only occur through the owner's own negligence.Such negligence arises if devices, accessories or games are handled incorrectly. In this case, the warranty becomes void and repairs or replacement will be charged for.

    You can send the Nintendo DS Lite for repair or replacement, with costs.

    The exact cost of the repair can be found in the relevant repair price list, together with detailed information on the procedure for obtaining a repair.

    This probably isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it's the best I can come up with. Once again, sorry that its broke. I would be devestated if it happened to me lol
