The expression 6s² represents the surface area of a cube with edges of length s. Find the surface area of a cube with each edge length.

A. 3inches B.1.5meter

The expression 4.95 + 0.07x models a household's monthly long-distance charges, where x represents the number of minutes of long-distance calls during the month. Fond the monthly charges for 73 minutes

  1. Okay....so the one thing you have to remember is, you do the exponents first in a formula.

    So if s = 3 inches

    The formula is 6 x 3^2

    3^2 = 9

    6 x 9 = 54

    So the surface area is 54 inches^2

    Now do the next value like that

  2. This is just pure laziness on your part - which I admire - you should really do these things or else you won't ever get them.

    The first part is just putting 3 and 1.5 into the equation given.

    A) 6*3*3=54

    B)6*1.5*1.5=13.5

    The second part is much the same replace the x with 73 and Bob's your uncle you get the answer.

    4.95+0.07*73=10.06

    This is about as simple as maths gets so you need to be able to do this before you can do any of the good stuff.

  3. 6 represents the 6 faces on the cube

    s squared is sxs which is the area of a square - each face

    if cube edge length is 3inches

    surface area = 3x3=9 9x6=54 inches

    if cube edge length is 1.5m

    surface area is 1.5x1.5 = 2.25  2.25x6 = 13.5m

    call charges

    sub 73 in place of x

    4.95 +  0.07 x 73

    4.95 + 5.11

    10.06 dollars or whatever currency

  4. A.  The surface area=

    6(3)^2=

    54 sq.in

    B. ans.13.5 sq.m, verify it yourself.

    C. Let c be the charge, then

    c=4.95+.07x

    c=4.95+0.07(73)

    c=10.06

  5. I am not going to give you the answers, as you probably wouldn't learn anything that way. But I'll help you with hints-

    1. formula for surface area: 2(length*width) + 2(length *height)+ 2(height * width). Then just put whatever the solution of that is = 6s^2 , and solve for s.

    2.Think of where you would plug in 73 minutes to....possibly a variable?
