Why do some people ( especially those guided by the social -- conflict paradigm ) describe the family as a system to perpetuate social inequality? Consider (a) class stratification (b) gender stratification, and (c) racial and ethnic stratification. Give examples

  1. It's a stratus world. Even within the family, power struggles occur quite frequently.


  2. This is because a family is the main stream from which all these classes stem from.

    so if you consider:

    a) class, people of high class families  will only want to associate with those like them,and since the higher you are on the ladder, the more the influence, then these people are bound to influence/dictate more.

    b) Gender, if ones gets married, s/he will loose his/her freedom, so must fight for it.Man and woman must be equal.hence family conflicts-succeed,right?

    c)black people are  bad and white people are good.This one comes from a less privileged tribe so don't marry him or her.E.tc.look along those ways and the world will be a part.

    Remember all these are happening at family level.Parents telling their children as they grow up.so that is why those people think that a family is a system of perpetuated social inequality.And i do agree with those people.
