Help are we teething?

we have a child that is 5 months and 1 week old and he is chewing and biting on everything. We have been watching this lower front gum line and havent seen any redness or white but this morning we noticed on his top gum line on the right top cuspid that it was red and a white little white spot was present. Could this be a tooth and if so why is it on the top I thought that the bottom front teeth came in first. Ideas???

He probably is teething. My son's top tooth came in first. Babies are usually whiny and un a fever when they are teething, give him tylenol when he is fussy and give him something to chew on like a cold frozen washcloth, it wil feel good on his gums
