  1. Your doing fine for a beginner. Like you said, everybody learns at their own pace. You could try some easy songs which involve power chords and slow, easy, solos. Try teen spirit by Nirvana, almost all Weezer songs are easy, just pick a song you like, and practice that, but don't forget to learn theory as you go to be able to solo over, and compose your own songs.  Good Luck.

  2. Well heres one weakness i see already is that you need resassurance that you're doing okay thats a big no no. In one week you know nine chords i guess thats good. Just keep at it and don't let people opinion hinder your practicing learn at your pace what takes one person a month to master could take the other person two months be the best guitarist you can be. DOn't stress others opinions

  3. Don't let go or listen to negative remark. You want to progress faster, here are one or two things that will improve your speed and co-ordination.

Start with the first 4 frets 1-2-3-4 and use the appropriate fingering as well 1-2-3-4. and alternate pick these notes.

Move on to the 5th string, 4th, 3, 2, 1 .. Then go backwards with alternate picking, 4-3-2-1 all the way to the low E (fat string)

Then do the reverse, 4-3-2-1 and work yourself up to the small E. Then, 1-2-3-4 and work yourself down to the Low E.

After 2 weeks, you will have doubled your speed guaranteed.
