Help! avi to dvd question!?

okay i used xilisoft avi to dvd and it didn't work i burnt the movie to the disc and nothing! :( when i put it into my dvd player it didn't work at all!! and i waited about 3 hours for it to load!!

and the disc i used was a

dvd+r

120 min.

4.7 gb

and somehow when it was loading i remembered the movie was 1 hr. and about 30 min. long and it stopped in 3 hrs.
