  2. 1. straight legs! and knees, especially knees!

    2. strong arms!

    3. do NOT swing your arms as a prep! also dont put a lot of force into your turns! you turn a lot easier on pointe!

    4. get completely over your box!

    5. point both feet!

    6. strong stomach!

    7. high passe and hold it throughout the turn!

    8. SPOT, SPOT, SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good luck! hope i helped!

  3. practice. hold onto the barre at your studio and FIRST DO THEM SLOWLY! i went on pointe at the beginning of september and i cant do pirouettes either. i can do Piqué turns just fine but whenever i have to do pirouettes, i always cheat and do them on demipointe. my teacher gets so mad at me for it. but she has me just hold onto the barre and puts them in the combinations all the time, and i have gotten alot better. i know everyone is probably telling you this, but just PRACTICE!

  5. Get your pirouettes without pointe shoes to where you can try 5 times (try for all doubles, or all clean singles) consecutively and be successful each time. Use the confidence gained from that and try with your pointe shoes on. Make sure your supporting leg stays straight, make sure your working leg goes straight to passe, make sure your working arm closes right away so that it doesn't lag behind and slow you down. ALSO! Turns on pointe take less push off force than turns on demi pointe, so don't push off so hard that you throw yourself off. Above all relax and don't be discouraged.

  6. visualize!!! take a minute or 2 to imagine your turns.

    Things to think about:

    - keep your weight on the front foot.

    - keep your stomach in

    - pull out of your shoes and hips

-pull up through your back and neck

my turns are terrible too!! so don't worry!!! this is what i have to think about in order to get my turns just right.

    HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!
