  1. well, i just got my braces too.

they are on your teeth for two years depending in how long you need them on. after they are off, you need to wear a retainer and put this thing on your teeth called invisiline so it protects your teeth from and cavities.

when your braces are on, they fell really weird at first, but you get used to of them after a week. eating will be some-what sore. your teeth will feel loose but that is normal. so i suggest eating a lot of soup, maybe some yogurt, and ice cream. buy things that are soft and you can easily chew.

the process of putting braces on are not sore. you dont have to get on shots or anything. they just put a mold and do a couple other things to get your braces on. the whole process take from 2-3 hours.the only fun part is getting to choose your elastic colors

i hope i could help and good luck on getting your braces on!

  2. ortho let's u know everything.

  3. Well, it depends what type of braces you're going to get...there are the traditional steel types with wires (the ones with color), then there are plastic (clear). The two are pretty much the same, but the clear ones look less conspicuous...(I know cuz I have them). I've been told by lots of people that they're barely noticeable.

Of course, you could get Invisalign, which is practically invisible (www.invisalign.com)

But if you're worrying about whether or not it hurts...then, well, to be quite honest, no. It's more of a tender, tight feeling when you first get them (Imagine constantly having hard stuff, like french bread crust, stuck between the teeth). Anyways, you'll get used to it, since they normally put the braces in a few at a time, so you can adjust to the feeling.

How long you'll be needing them depends on what the problem seems to be...this could last from 6 months to 2 and a half years...more or less.

Braces cost about $5000 ON AVERAGE...extra stuff like chin cups, ceramic brackets etc. will cost extra...but, not everyone needs this, so it depends.

After the braces, you'll be needing retainers, which are pieces of wire and plastic that is used to secure the position of the teeth after the actual braces are removed. These can be removed at your own will, but the othrodontist will tell you to "only remove them when doing sports and eating". You'll be needing this for about 6 months or more, again depending on the situation.

Oh, and if you need to pull teeth out, then that'll cost more and be more uncomfortable too, naturally...

Good luck with your braces, the technology of dental positioning has become a lot better, so don't worry. It might be frustrating at first, but you'll get over it eventually and in the end, you'll see that it was worth it. =)

  4. There not as bad as you think!  My daughter has had them for nearly a year now and has had little discomfort with them.  They will put really cool colors on your rubberbands.  You can choose them.  When you first get them on it'll take some time for you to adjust.  Your mouth may be a little sore.  Nothing a tylenol won't take care of.  After that, occasional soreness when they make adjustments.  You'll find that once the teeth start moving and it will be quick, you'll love it!!  Good luck and take care.  Enjoy your new smile!!

  5. ok, I have braces on me now, I'll tell you the most important things you need to know:

1 - you won't like them at first, and you'll hate it when they are tightened or changed during appointments cause it will hurt a little bit when you eat

2 - in a few weeks, no matter how uncomfortable you feel at first (trust me, I felt very very uncomfortable) you'll get used to them

3 - you have to brush your teeth lots! and sometimes food gets stuck without you noticing so you really have to make sure you rinse at least when your eating out..(otherwise people might see something stuck on your teeth)

4- Don't worry! usually people (like me) just get used to them and you'll feel that people are not noticing once they see them a few times..

That is all I can think of, again, don't worry

    Hope I helped :)

  6. they give you a lot of rules of things you can't eat while you really should follow, some of them are just too hard and it's okay if you break a few. some are that you can't eat chips, drink pop, chew gum and stuff but after about a month or so, you usually just break those kind of rules are most of the time, it doesnt destroy your braces anyways.

the first few days it sometimes really hurts, depending on the person but just eat soft foods and you'll be fine. after a month or maybe sooner, you don't even realize you have braces anymore.

  7. They dont HURT as much as they say but are uncomfortable and they do get sore everything you get them tightened

brush well or you will have white spots on your teeth when you get them off

be careful with what you eat because the brackets can pop off and your teeth will move around

SMILE...dont be ashamed of them because they are SOOO worth it!

Oh right and chapstick will be your buddy :)

  8. you orthodontist will tell you everything, just dont hesitate to ask any questions you might have! : D

  9. your orthodonist will let you know all you need to know about them. trust me

  10. dont worry about them i have theem as u saw. at first they do cut up your mouth quite a bit but thats what wax is for. your orthodontist obviously went over all this already so im just a broken record. watch what you eat because when i first got mine on i broke like ten brackets but as you have them on idk if the braces get stronger or you get used to them that you stop braking them but it eventually stops. i should be getting mine of this school year and can't wait.

    Best of luck!! Em<3
