Help building pop-up books?

Question

I am trying to build a pop-up book for an AP biology project and I need a little help. Does anyone know a good place to learn how to build a pop-up book or can tell me the basic idea.

You need to use both pages of the book and you you probably use thin cardboard paper.  Opening the book causes the design to spring up as if you were setting a trap. closing it causes it to recoil.  I've seen strategically placed string to help with this as if a tent was being set up.

ok heres the basic idea... needs: 1 piece of a4 cardboard, one piece of a4 paper, pens or pencils and a art knife or stanley knife...ok

: (we'll make this one really simple so you get the idea) draw a square on your a4 paper but on its side, like this<> then use you knife to cut along the top half only, your cut should look like this^, then fold the paper in half, now, take the top of your diamond(which should now have a crease down the middle ) and bend the crease the other way and you should have the square popping in and out each time you open or close your folded a4 paper now, glue your a4paper to the cardboard all except for the square now (after that extreamly longwinded explanation) you should have a pop out square! horray! once you do this youll understand the basics of a popup book its really quite easy. good luck. hope this helped;)
