Ok so i have $320 to spend on an LCD TV. I would like to use the tv for my xbox 360 and watch movies in high def. I kinda wantsomething 26"+ but for 320 i can only get between 19" and 23", which is fine. I was wondering if their was anything i needed to know when buying a tv. Also whats a good brand and are there any better deals out there?

i was looking at the following two but was not sure,

  1. To watch true "high def" movies you need a 1080p tv, a blu ray DVD player, blu rayDVD, and an HDMI cable.

If not, you should AT LEAST buy an up-convert dvd player AND an HDMI cable. (this will upconvert your standard dvds to almost HD, but not true HD)

In terms of a TV.... eh the ones u were lookin at seem... kinda cheap to be honest. They only have a 700:1 contrast ratio thats really low. Your blacks on these TVs are going to look very grey in color.

..personally u might want to save a little bit more money so u can get something nicer? Because your not going to find a 26" TV for $320..

  2. Go with the costco Vizio. They come with a longer warranty and some of the LCD's models are better than those found on other stores. You dont need 1080 on a small screen.

  3. If you want a quality TV then you won't bother with anything else except a Sony or a Samsung.

With the amount of money you have to spend I wouldn't even bother.

Keep saving until you can buy something decent otherwise you may as well go and burn your $320.

  4. Don't go with either.  Yes, they do have warranties, but at your price range, you really want to go with quality to the best that you can and Vizio is NOT quality.  If you can scrounge up a few more dollars (not much) then go with the LG or Sharp that I linked below - do NOT do Vizio - they're specs are horrible compared to the ones I linked - you'll get much better quality with the LG and Sharp!

    Good luck!

  5. Get a job and save some real money!

$320 will not get you anything in hi def.

Not even a crappy Targets no name brand.
