Help cant change background image?

wen i go to display to change my background image non of the images appear ..a whit screen is on my pc ryt now...can someone pls help

Control-Alt-Del to Task Manager

Select Shut Down

Restart and check desktop

If still N/G........

Go into Safe Mode

Start

Programs

Accessories

System tools

System Restore

Maybe there's a problem. Try right clicking any picture you see online anywhere. Even your avatar lol. Then click "set as desktop background". If that doesn't work, then try restarting your computer or something.
