Help choosing a biotechnology experiment?

Question

I'm planning to take part in a biotechnology program at my university, which requires that we design and execute our own experiments. I was just wondering if anybody could possibly give me any suggestions since the parameters are quite broad (just no in vivo experiments). I would also appreciate it if anybody would be able to direct me to some reputable scientific journals that can be easily accessed. Thank you!
